The Laser Needlemaker (D Shift) will set-up and operate Lasers to drill surgical needles of various sizes and types to exacting quality standards and close tolerances. Perform routine process troubleshooting and work with Process Owners to solve complex problems. Use and maintain measurement and inspection devices including microscopes, optical comparators, dial indicators, scales, plug gauges, and micrometers. Build and maintain custom diameter and depth plug gauges to specifications. Perform Preventative Maintenance procedures on equipment per the schedule. Utilize CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) system for data entry and monitoring of the process. Create work orders using the MRP (JD Edwards) system. Utilize JD Edwards and CIM to maintain accurate inventory usage and identify correct material levels. Laser drill and disposition needles in accordance with published finished needles quality standards. Remove parts from tooling inventory system and maintain accurate inventory. Maintain quality and production standards certification. Complete tooling and process set-up, changeover, run, and clean-up. Utilize the document management system (Adaptiv) to review and interpret technical drawings/specification for needle dimensions.
The Laser Needlemaker (D Shift) will also work in team environment. Comply with all federally regulated programs and adhere to J&J; environmental and safety policies and guidelines. Comply with all job specific safety procedures and utilize PPE when necessary. Comply with quality system requirements as defined within procedures and instructions. Use test equipment (Starett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope, etc) where applicable. Utilize applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. ComplianceWire, ADAPTIV, etc.) Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE's), if applicable. Support LEAN and Six Sigma Initiatives. Support Maintenance Excellence (ME2) including 6S and Operator Asset Care. Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation). Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor. Consistently meet required Training due date targets. Support Production System by identifying, evaluating and resolving problems. Understand and adhere to Production System Principles and Rules. Assist process engineers and facilitators in trouble shooting and process improvement activities. Support Plant Diversity Process.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of one year vocational, military, or equivalent technical training/experience is also required. Computer and database management skills required. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and statistical/analytical problem solving skills. Must have a basic understanding of statistical process control. The ability to set-up, operate, and perform maintenance of manufacturing equipment is required. Experience in mechanics and an established mechanical aptitude (ability to repair, maintain, and install mechanical equipment to specified tolerances) is required. Must understand basic process principal and theory. Must be able to keep accurate records. Experience with basic hand tools (i.e. screwdrivers, wrenches, snips, cutters) and inspection equipment (i.e. optical comparators, micrometers, microscopes, plug gauges) is required. Experience using shop math (such as decimals, fractions, and tolerances) and basic understanding of engineering drawings is required.
CNC (Computer Numerical Control) and/or PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) machining experience is preferred. Laser needle making experience and needle manufacturing experience preferred. Technical electronic experience is preferred.
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds unaided is required. Overhead work (pushing/pulling/reaching) is required. Walking/kneeling/standing approximately 50% of the time is required. Must be able to work rotating 12 hour night shifts (D Shift - 7:00pm - 7:00am), which will include alternating weekends. The ability to work occasional overtime and some holidays is required.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
